    Default Keeping Your Mac Cool/Cold

One of the most important things for performance is the temperature of your computer, the fact that computer chips are made of silicon i.e (semi conductor) as it gets hotter it will have more resistance thus electrons will move slower (you will know this if you studied physics ) again thus computer will operate slower.

now we now that we need to keep it cool, what do we do?

    For Laptops:

    1) Use FanControl Application to control the fan and lower the threshold for fan to activate

    2) Use well ventilated and cold place

    3) Use external fans (usually comes in external stands)

    4) Change thermal Paste such as "302F Artic Silver" (this is kind of hard in macs depending on model, I will post tutorials soon)

    5) If you are using the Unibodies with two graphic cards, make sure to use the lower end one

    For Desktops:

    1) Use "Liquid Cooling"

    2) You can also do the Thermal Paste thing (look above)

    3) well ventilated place

I will add more as new things come up.

    Thanks and share your thoughts

Yes I would assume he does.

My fan used to run all the time. I thought it was broken, but it turns out it was an app called iAntivirus using 99% of my cpu. WTF

spotlight comes under indexing yes, there are also categories such as defragmenting, HD indexing and other things that one does not notice.

that might explain it then!! i have no antivirus installed as i would rather not put viruses on my computer (antivirus software = viruses as you can never get rid of them lol).

    I was just experimenting.

I heard it on the American Forces radio tech show here, and tried it. I think that the host should be fired.
